Stochastic methods, extreme modelling, machine learning:applications in environmental risk and global epidemiology

Date
24-06-2024 au 28-06-2024
Lieu
University Gaston Berger, Saint-Louis

This summer research school project aims to present stochastic models and advanced statistical learning tools, including applications to issues related to the environmental risk, global epidemiology, industry, and more. It is intended for practitioners, professionals, teachers, researchers, graduate students and non-specialists who wish to focus their practical research on stochastic/statistical modelling and statistical, deep learning/machine learning. The application domains are of increasing interest, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, where companies, startups, and organizations are emerging, requiring skills in modeling and deep learning. Training specialists in these areas will enable the study of local issues related to health, environment, biology, agriculture, education, and more generally applied sciences. This school will also bring together mathematicians, statisticians, practitioners from Africa, Europe, and internationally who are motivated by modeling and machine learning tools, thereby strengthening our connections, essential for creating synergies and fostering collaborations. This school will facilitate meetings between professionals, doctoral students, future doctoral students, supervisors or co-supervisors, practitioners, and specialists. This school will be open to doctoral students, teachers, and non-specialist practitioners looking to focus their research on modeling and statistical learning, benefiting from the technical expertise of this school.
